This calculator gives an estimate only. Your obstetrician will confirm your due date, usually with an ultrasound. Pregnancy nutrition requirements can vary — follow recommendations from your obstetrician and qualified healthcare professionals. Medical disclaimer
Most due dates are estimated by adding 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period, known as Naegele’s rule. If your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days, the date is adjusted. Only a small share of babies arrive on their exact due date, and your doctor may update it after an ultrasound.
We add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last period.
If your cycle is not 28 days, we move the date by the difference — for example, 3 days later for a 31-day cycle.
Weeks are counted from your last period, so you are considered about 2 weeks pregnant at conception.
It gives an estimate. Cycle lengths vary, and your doctor may adjust your due date based on an early ultrasound scan. Many babies are born in the weeks around the due date rather than on it.
Your doctor can estimate your due date with an ultrasound. Please book an antenatal appointment as early as you can.
